Up

From the Pen of the Director

Dear Friend,

Your support in the past has been much appreciated and I am writing to you to bring you up to date with the developments within the Anglican Counselling Service.  The Service has been through a period wherein many changes have occurred and staff have been adjusting to these while continuing to provide services to the communities of the North & North West of New South Wales.

Rev Chris Wright resigned as Director in 2001 and his contributions to the Service have proven to be both valuable and helpful in the growth and progress of the Service.  Rev Brian Kirk began as Director in February 2002 and the past several months have been very, very busy for him.

Brian has led the staff through an Assessment and a Government accreditation, and preparing for these was an enormous job.  The Service met the standards required by the Government funding body in the majority of areas and has been commended for its Statement of Values, focus on clients, the ability to make its services accessible in such a large geographic area, services to men and the indigenous community, staff support, supervision and training.  There were four areas in administration that we partially complied with and have been given until December this year to meet the requirements.  The Government funding is continuing, however, the budget adopted for 2002-2003 includes quite a large deficit.  Several submissions for funding for specific purposes have been prepared, however, to date have not been successful.

The Training Course provided by the Service is in the process of being accredited as an Undergraduate Degree through the Higher Education Board and this has involved Lois Reid and Jenny Regan in countless hours of pouring over the Course contents and making sure they pass the standard required.  The Course itself has been approved, however, there are other issues which need to be addressed before accreditation is approved.

Because of your support in the past I am asking if you would pray for the Service, its staff and the present financial situation and that you consider whether you can support the Service financially as you are able.

In Christ,

Rev Brian Kirk

Director
