Family and Relationship Counselling describes what happens when people are helped to face difficulties and make appropriate decisions after exploring the available options. It usually involves several sessions with a highly trained counsellor, each session lasting for about an hour.
Family and relationship counselling is most helpful when all parties involved are present (family or partners), but this is not essential. Most sessions take place at the counselling centre with the counsellors aiming to cast new light on the problems people are attempting to solve.
Each counsellor has taken an oath of confidentiality. There are laws in place forbidding counsellors from giving evidence in a court of law about relationship counselling .
