  •     Marriage

    •     Pre-Marriage - Skills for the Road Ahead

      Relationships are very important to us and we all desire good relationships. A long lasting relationship is something that can help each person grow.

       Relationship education allows you both to share information with each other about issues that affect your relationship. Good, successful relationships don’t just happen, they are developed through time as a result of good practice.

      This programme is designed to equip you with some of the necessary skills for healthy relationship development for the road ahead and to enhance the relationship you have as a couple.

      Delivery: generally one day but can be flexible

       

    •     Marriage Enrichment - The Marriage Course

      Building and maintaining a healthy marriage relationship can be quite a challenge amidst the pressures of life and family.  This seven session course is designed to help any married couple strengthen their relationship and build a healthy marriage that lasts a lifetime.

       Topics covered include: building strong foundations, the art of communication, resolving conflict, the power of forgiveness, parents and in-laws, good sex and love in action.

       Delivery: 7 sessions of 2 hour duration

  •     Parenting

    • Parenting Education Program

      This course aims to encourage and support parents in their important role, through the education and discussion of family issues and skills in a relaxed and friendly environment.  The program looks at the following topics:

      • Parenting styles;
      • Childhood development;
      • Relationship building (through the key areas of listening and encouragement);
      • Children’s self esteem;
      • Discipline strategies;
      • Family Growth (through celebrations and spiritual development).

      Delivery: 5 sessions of 2 hour duration

       

    • Starting Points – Preparing your 0-4 year old child for life

      Raising children is possibly one of the most difficult jobs in the world.  As parents and caregivers, you are the most important influence on your child’s future.  Starting points supports you in giving your child a foundation for living well.  This Focus on the Family course will give you an understanding of …

      • Your child’s developing personality
      • Building your child’s self confidence
      • Correcting and setting your child’s boundaries
      • Important relationships.

      Delivery: 4 sessions of 2 hour duration

  •     Anger Management

    • Anger Management

      Everyone has the capacity for anger, but how we express it determines whether it is appropriate or not in that situation.  Learn practical ways to manage anger and the underlying issues.  Learn to control unwanted angry outbursts.

      As one participant said after the course, “I’m not alone with my problem”

      Delivery:  4 sessions of 2.5 hr duration

       

    • Good Anger is Okay

      An anger management course developed in consultation with members of the Tamworth aboriginal community.

      Delivery:  flexible

  •     Personal Care and Development

    • Know Yourself

      The secret of successful living is often your own personal process.  Learn by experiential activities why you may be biased, judgemental and non accepting of some people.  Learn what is SPECIAL about YOU.

      The programme offers participants 25 hours of face-to-face experiential activities some of which will be very meaningful. 

      Delivery:  total of 25 hours.  Generally held over 4 weeks, 1 day/wk or over 2 weekends.

     

    • Healthy Self Esteem

      While our self-esteem is influenced by other people, the things we tell ourselves about ourselves have the greatest impact on how we view ourselves.  Discover the negative messages you have absorbed and explore how they were acquired.

      This workshop will help you begin to work with these long-held beliefs, and you will then be enabled to choose to practise new ways that will enhance your self-image.

      Delivery:  flexible

       

    • Living with Depression

      Depression has been described by some people as,  “living in the black hole”.  It can be debilitating for the person experiencing it, and difficult for those living with them.

      This workshop will help you to understand the nature of depression and what causes it.  You will also explore helpful ways of living with depression, in yourself or in someone you know.

      Delivery:  flexible

       

    • Living with Grief and Loss

      A workshop about learning to live in a different world.   We look at accepting the reality of the loss - working through the pain of grief and separation - adjusting to a new environment and emotionally relocating the self so that the person is eventually able to move on with life.

      Delivery:  flexible

       

    • Mental Health First Aid Course

      Mental health issues have been given a higher profile in recent times, with many people identifying and sharing publicly the impact of mental health illnesses on their life, and the lives of those around them.

      This course helps people to identify the signs and symptoms of depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions, and to identify and respond to suicidal risks.  This enables people to assist and support one another in times of need, and understand where to access further help.

      Many people have benefited from this course, including those who suffer personally with a mental illness, and those who live or work with someone in this situation.

      Delivery:  2 days

  •     Counselling and Communication

    • Listening for Relating (Basic Counselling Microskills)

      Have you ever said or heard it said ’It’s so good to get that off my chest”? This is a course for all people who CARE. This includes anyone in a relationship but will be of particular significance to those in a helping role. Most clients/patients have thoughts and feelings bottled up inside just waiting for expression. It will enable carers to listen more effectively and to be able to respond appropriately and empathically without being judgmental or intrusive.

      Please note:  All sharing is voluntary. At least six people are required to form a group

      Delivery:  total of 12 hours.  Generally held over 2 weeks, 1 day/wk or over 1 weekend.

  •     Financial Management

    • Understanding Money

      The course aims to help people understand and manage money in everyday life.  Topics covered include:

      • Setting financial goals;
      • Working out a budget;
      • Getting into a saving habit;
      • Debt problems:  take control, what happens if you can't repay a debt?
      • Bankruptcy and other legal arrangements.

      Delivery:  2 consecutive days
