At their most recent meetings, both the Armidale Anglican Diocesan Council, and the Board of the Anglican Counselling Service (ACS) gave approval for the agency to change its trading name to “Anglicare – Northern Inland”.
The possibility of a name change has been an ongoing topic of discussion for a number of years however it was now felt that the time was right to adopt the new name.
Both the ACS Board, and the Diocesan Council, were keen to stress that the change of name does not mean that there will be any alterations to the way the agency operates, or to the services provided.
The decision to proceed with the change has been primarily based around the fact that the name ‘Anglicare’ has been shown to have wider acceptance and recognition within the community.
It is also hoped that by aligning themselves more closely with a nationally recognised organisation, the agency will enhance their chances of successfully applying for funding from State and Federal Governments.
The change officially came into effect on 1 January 2011 and signage and stationery will be gradually changed to reflect the new name over the following months.
